Alderney is the third largest island in the "Channel Islands"; it is 5km long and 3km wide, with a population of around 2,400 people. Alderney island is the northernmost island but also the closest to England and France, being only +/- 8 Km from the latter.
Alderney is an autonomous and democratic territory and is one of the islands under the authority of Guernsey. It has its own independent legal system, a stable government, as well as a flourishing international financial sector.
It is not part of the European Union. Alderney does not use a pay as you
earn system, no capital gains tax, no tax on the transfer of capital and
does not have VAT.
Alderney offers all of the advantages of an offshore business and finance centre, equipped with the latest IT and telecommunications developments, coupled with modern and optimized business law.
Alderney is under British authority in terms of foreign affairs, defence, and the "Channel Island" negotiations with the European Union (EU).
